We are excited to welcome Ellen Parkin to the Celebrate Cannabis Board.
Ellen received a M.S. in Brewing Science from OSU and came to Bend to work at Worthy Brewing. After starting the Worthy Brewing lab, Ellen hopped into the growing cannabis industry. She is the lab director at the Bend EVIO Labs and recently was appointed as the EVIO Labs corporate Quality Assurance Officer. In her free time, Ellen loves to spend time outside with her dogs and husband. In addition to serving as a Board Member, Ellen has also taken on the role of Secretary for Celebrate Cannabis.
What similarities do you see now between the beer and cannabis industries?
Beer and cannabis are similar in that we are striving for the highest quality products we can produce. Craft beer and craft cannabis have become a staple in our everyday lives and have helped all of us understand both products more deeply – through flavor, taste, and visual cues.
From a testing preservative, as the industry moves forward, I see international and standardized testing methods being developed and implemented. Almost all other industries have implemented these and this could help with grower and processor faith in the testing results.
Why do you believe its important to Celebrate Cannabis together as a local community?
I am so excited to be a part of Celebrate Cannabis. Our industry got off to a rocky start and the more we can work together and build a strong community, the more we will be able to accomplish together. This industry and the people in it have so much to offer and Celebrate Cannabis can help us come together to share that with our communities – both cannabis and non-cannabis.
Thank you and welcome to the Team, Ellen!
